SEW KOWALSKI smashed the River Trent barbel best with this huge 20 lb 6 oz specimen caught during a specimen match.

Sew matted the Trent record barbel during a Barbel Team PL-UK Barbel Cup event on an unnamed stretch in Nottinghamshire.
Sew is originally from Kielce in Poland and is now living in London.
He said: “It was great to catch the fish but it is just as important for me and my colleagues from our clubs Barbel Team PL and Polish Anglers Association to spread the word about us.”
The self-employed 37-year-old offered a Dynamite Big Fish Meat Furter hookbait over matching pellet and groundbait on a Pallatrax Gripz hook.
Sew’s fish obliterates the old official Trent record of 19 lb 4 oz caught by Steven Short in 2006.
The official British barbel record is currently 21 lb 2 oz. That southern giant was caught by Colin Smithson and, until accepted, stayed almost under the radar in the autumn of 2019.
