The 28 year-old HGV mechanic, who legered a boilie, explained: “I was on peg 19 for a 72 hour session.
“Everything was quiet and I’d only managed a 6 lb bream through the first night, suffering with high winds.
“Things where looking a little bleak. Just as I was thinking of a bait change the swinger hit the rod.
“After a good 20 minute fight I was over the moon to finally set eyes on this prehistoric monster.
“The sturgeon was a total surprise as I was after a cheeky carp. Happy days!” grinned Robert, from Shrewsbury, Shropshire.
