BAIT inventor Leighton McDonnell put together a new ‘Tring Butchers Faggot Paste’ and it worked instantly with this 7 lb 6 oz chub from the Great Ouse.
Tring, Hertfordshire-based Leighton said: “I have been experimenting with a unique Umami paste bait encapsulated by faggots and sold by my local butchers as they have a very special smell and taste.
“I tried Brains frozen faggots with onion sauce but they proved too salty. The chub came first cast, but I never struck, as it hooked itself and was very cute as it simply behaved like a crayfish (long slow draws of the quiver) so I decided to wind in and found it hooked.”
