LIAM BACKX had a bailiff to thank for landing this huge catfish called Doug The Slug at 73 lb.
The huge catfish came from at Lin Brook Carp Fishery in Hampshire.
Liam, from nearby Ringwood, told Angler’s Mail: “It was an epic battle and it nearly stripped me of line.
“If it wasn’t for a bailiff turning up on the boat as I had the big one I would have lost her for certain.
“What an experience it was though, 45 minutes of intense holding on for my life as I was on 15 lb line and a size 6 barbless hook.
“I’m absolutely buzzing to have had the chance of such a big fish in the UK,” added Liam, a 26-year-old builder.
