THE star-studded 6th annual PDC Fishing Championships is almost here - at the new venue of Hampshire’s mega prolific Gold Valley Lakes.

Spectators are also expected to flock to Gold Valley for the charity event run by the Professional Darts Corporation.
It’s on Tuesday, August 28, 11am to 7pm, and Gold Valley has great facilities as well.
The list of competitors is hugely impressive this year, and is featured below. Main sponsors this year are LiveDarts, Dalroad, Carp Couture, Wickman Group and Aachen Wellness.
Reigning World snooker champion Mark Williams has confirmed he will be trying to retain the PDC Fishing crown he won last year at Manor Farm in Bedfordshire with 15 lb 6 oz.

Cue king Mark Williams, with his World Snooker trophy, is relishing the fishing at Gold Valley. Will his rod be like a magic wand?
If Mark shows as much form with the rods and poles as he has with his cue in the past year, everyone will surely need snookers!
But with huge numbers of carp to 20 lb-plus at Gold Valley, Mark will have to up his catch rate on last time.
Mark joked: “I will give everyone an 8 lb start to make it interesting.
“I’m looking forward to Barry Hearn giving me that trophy again this year, I still remember his face when he presented it last year.
“The thought of him handing me that trophy again is too much. Knowing Barry, I’m surprised I’m not banned this time!”
What a line up this year!
Also confirmed to fish at Gold Valley are William Hill World Darts champ and keen angler Rob ‘Voltage’ Cross and snooker legend Steve ‘Interesting’ Davis will be there.
Angler’s Mail can confirm there will be many other sport stars at Gold Valley who you’ll recognise from regular appearances on TV.
The organisers’ current listing (subject to late change) includes darts heroes Gary ‘Flying Scotsman’ Anderson and Michael ‘Bully Boy’ Smith, and Chris Mason (the ITV4 pundit with great taste in shirts).
Popular walk-on girls Daniella Allfree and Charlotte Wood will be there again. They were recently and controversially dropped from events including darts’ Premier League.

On target with their casting? World Darts Champ Rob Cross will be at Gold Valley, as will Daniella Allfree (left) and Charlotte Wood (right).
Rugby League will be represented this time with top players Jamie Jones-Buchanan, Josh Charnley and Sam Powell.
Also lined up are former boxing champs Spencer Oliver and Paul Smith Jnr, who have both shown angling skills in the past. More names are still to be announced.
Former PDC Fishing champions include Steve Collett, the unique Angler’s Mail print magazine columnist.
Steve helped event organisers Barry Hearn and Jess Harding brush up their angling skills – as seen a few weeks ago in Angler’s Mail.

“It is free entry, with parking at £10 per car, but with 100 per cent of the money going to charity.

Boxer Dillian Whyte and top promoter Eddie Hearn will be at Gold Valley. Will they punch above their weight?
PDC Fishing Champs 2018 line-up

PDC chief and all-round sporting promoter Barry Hearn loves his fishing. Maybe 2018 at Gold Valley will be Bazza’s time to show them how it’s done?
