THE venue that recently produced an unofficial British record 53 lb 12 oz grass carp gave this stunner too!
NEIL CALVER tackled Little Moulsham on the famous Yateley complex on the Surrey-Hampshire border and took this 49 lb 8 oz grass carp.
Little Moulsham recently produced a massive 53 lb 12 oz grass carp and also did a then-record crucian carp record of 4 lb 9 oz.
Neil, a fire fighter, explained: “It actually fought quite hard which is unusual for grass carp.
“It managed to weed me up so I slackened off and put my rod back down.
“I was just preparing a life jacket and boat when the clutch started ticking again.
“It was landed a few minutes later with a big ball of weed.
“The fish was taken on Perfections Groundbaits Mega Fish bottom bait topped with a Cherrycarp TS1 pop- up which has proved a great combination this year.
“The baits were trimmed down to become critically balanced and presented slip D style. This was fished over 5 kg of hemp, maize and pellet,” added Neil.
