THE British ruffe record looks at risk of being beaten this winter.

Perch angler Andrew Shepherd had a surprise on the Shropshire Union Canal when he banked this 4 oz 8 dr record-nudging ruffe.
Andrew tempted his first ever ruffe on a 2 inch green Ecogear Creature Bait on a club water stretch.
Pal Ian Gregory said: “There’s a few 5 oz-plus ruffe in the canal and I’m confident of getting another this winter.”
Ian is still trying to sort out his own application for a 5 oz 8 dr record breaker he caught last winter.
The official ruffe record remains at 5 oz 4 dr caught by R Jenkins from West View Farm in Cumbria in 1980.
