LURE ace and Angler’s Mail magazine front cover star Alex Stoica showed he’s also a dab hand at the camera with some special perch photos.

The Jaws style photo was shared with Angler’s Mail magazine when Alex was pictured recently on the front cover with a stunning 3 lb 15 oz stripy.
He also caught some more good perch during that session… so he tried to get a different style of photo when carefully returning them.
It culminated in the eye-catching image (above), reminiscent of the shark in the famous Jaws films.
Brackley, Northamptonshire-based Alex said: “They are probably the best perch shots I have ever taken.
“I have never tried taking a picture of perch in the water with the fin up before.
“When I released the 3 lb 15 oz perch, I noticed that it was holding the fin up so I tried to capture that moment using my phone.
“Unfortunately it swam off too quickly and I couldn’t get a proper shot.”

Alex tried to get the same style of Jaws fin-up picture when he returned this giant… but it didn’t work!
Alex continued: “I just paid more attention when releasing the next perch and I got it, with three awesome shots.
“The fish I could photograph was smaller, younger and the fin was in perfect condition.
“I was lucky as it didn’t move too much when I put in the water, so I had a good 5-7 seconds to take the pictures.
“It helped that there were shallow margins and crystal clear water.
“They were from a local gravel pit and fell to a Savage Gear Cannibal Shad 10 cm lure in pike pattern,” added Alex.
