LAWRENCE CHEESE more than doubled his tench PB when he took this 12 lb 8 oz giant during a carp session on a local lake.
Norwich, Norfolk-based Lawrence, 27, explained: “I arrived to find some carp around a snag, so baited up with some chopped DNA Baits S7 boilies and put a yellow topped snowman tight to the trees.
“Within 20 minutes I had a take and all the way to the net I thought it was a carp.
“Once netted I realised it was a tench but one that I had never seen the size of.
“I asked the tench fisherman in the swim next to me to take a few pictures.
“I usually wouldn’t bother with a tench but it was such a size I couldn’t not ask.
“Safe to say he was rather envious and said it was the equivalent of him catching a 50 lb carp.
“I proceeded to blank on the carp front.
“I think it is 1 oz off the lake’s tench record,” added Lawrence.
