SAM EVERIST went out in the middle of his working day to fish and landed this stunning 7 lb 15 oz chub.
Lunchtime success meant the 32-year-old supply chain manager was back at his desk, smiling, within an hour.
The giant chub came from the River Lea, near where the Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire angler works.
Sam explained: “I’d had an 8 lb 7 oz chub in 2016 and now had this second huge one, again from Dobb’s Weir.
“The photo was taken by a passer-by and unfortunately does the fish no justice at all.
“It’s a great chunk of a fish though even though unfortunately not quite a second eight-pounder.”
Lunchtime for chub, too!
Sam explained: “The river is a five-minute walk from work.
“I got them feeding on bread for around 15 minutes by throwing in freebies of sinking bread.
“Then on my first cast I saw what looked like a good chub go for the bread but spooked at the last second.
“Then then on the second cast the l fish nailed the freelined bread and I could feel it was a good fish by the way the centrepin reel was screaming.
“I was back at work before the hour was up, and hence, the office clothes I’m wearing,” added Sam.
He landed the big chub with a 1.75 lb rod, 6 lb line, a size 8 hook and good old centrepin reel.
