HERE'S an 'al-luring couple' who love pike fishing and shared a fantastic short session.
Lure fishing ace Ionut Mitrea was fishing alongside his fiancée, Denisa Trifan, when he bagged a PB 25 lb 6 oz pike.
The Northamptonshire stillwater also saw Denisa catch a fine specimen herself that measured 84 cm.
The couple fished a ‘reserve venue’ due to river floods, and Ionut explained to Angler’s Mail what happened…
The 31-year-old supervisor, from Northampton, said: “I caught a PB pike of 24 lb at the end of last year, but within a month I’ve managed to better it.
“The river had been flooded for over a month, so I focused on some lakes that are not connected to it.”

Ionut continued: “Within 30 minutes of boarding the boat, Denisa caught an 84 cm-long fish on an 18 cm Quantum Yolo Swim Shad in Firetiger pattern. She handled it well, and now I’ve got a fishing buddy.
“Then I had a nice pike, too, using a 18 cm Yolo Pike Shad in a roach pattern, rigged with a 30 g jighead, a Quantum Claw stinger hook and a screw blade in the belly section.
“Towards the end of our short session I made a few casts to the spot where I’d caught my 24-pounder.
“While retrieving the lure slowly off the bottom, my lure just got ‘stacked’. What a beautiful fish, and definitely the best weekend that I’ve spent with Denisa,” chuckled Ionut.
